The Arai Factory


Arai, one of the best helmet manufacturers, has given us the opportunity to visit their European branch situated on the outskirts of Amsterdam, where the AIC Arai Inspiration Centre is. This a wonderful technological site where you can really feel and understand the philosophy that has inspired Japanese manufacturing right from the early years of Hirotake Arai. You are almost speechless on going into the board meeting room. The high walls are absolutely coved with helmets (original ones) that have been worn to the greatest drivers in motoring sports. Among the array, you spot a helmet that used to belong to the small determined pilot, Gastone Rahier, which he wore for one of the many Paris-Dakar races, the Italian-flag-coloured one worn by Luca Cadalora and those belonging to Mansell, Barrichello, Giavanardi, Koller, ...The wonderful display and the great variety of coloured helmets create such an atmosphere, where you can almost hear the roar of the engines and the thrills of racing over the past 50 years. Ref: Vroom magazine Hirotake Arai Gastone Rahier Luca Cadalora Ferry Brower Snell F1 helmets HANS Maurizio Bombarda CLC Complex Laminated Construction zylon aramidic kevlar fibre
