Rip Williams
Rip Williams is one of the good ones. Not just good in a race car, but he’s damn good out of it, too. He’s one of those guys that might not sell the most t-shirts, might not get the most headlines and might not get the loudest cheers but no one has ever gone home from a race disappointed that the Ripper won the A-main. He’s been at it since he and his father, who was also a racer, first sought out a threequarter midget for the 1975 season and he found his way to the CRA in 1978. He was co-Rookie of the Year, with Rick Paronelli, that season and he’s still at it, nearly 30 years later. FlatOut recently caught up with Williams to chat about his career, his warm reputation, the good old days and his progeny’s future in the sport.
